Chintz is a cool and funky bar / club situated in a courtyard off the old High Street in Falmouth. It has eclectic decor and a very chilled vibe. And amongst all the younger crowd are older people like me. A nice mixture of age ranges.
To get to Chintz, you have to walk through a courtyard. The place itself is situated on the old Falmouth High Street. The courtyard can be a great place to sit yourself down as well. During good weather you can buy yourself a drink and settle down and listen to a DJ playing some suitably funky and relaxed music.
Chintz itself has its bar on the first floor. The first thing you notice is just quite how many quirky decorations there are. Underneath the bar on the ground floor is the club area. This is where bands perform live. I saw Cornish band Pattern Pusher one night and they were fantastic. I love seeing talented people performing. And in this venue you get to do that, in a nice intimate place.
Cornish Bank is in the heart of Falmouth Town and always has an interesting and eclectic line up of talent performing. Most nights of the week they have someone playing and a variety of different styles are booked.
As you walk in the stage is on your left. When the crowd is in, there is a fantastic atmosphere. There are seats higher up overlooking the stage for those who want to sit down. The place is a great size with anywhere giving you a decent view of the stage. And this helps add to the atmosphere without making things feel overcrowded.
I saw The Undercover Hippy perform here, who were a mixture of influences, including reggae. They were great performers and you get to watch them right up close to the stage.
I feel so lucky to have great music venues like Cornish Bank on my doorstep in Falmouth.
