Swanpool Beach is right next door to the lovely Swanpool Nature Reserve. It is beautiful on a summer’s day and dramatic during a stormy winter’s day.

There is a lovely cafe that you can buy food from and sit outside on the benches, relaxing right next to the beach.  And the beach is a lovely place to have a barbecue.

It can feel quite busy at peak times, but is always worth a visit. You can see people taking part in watersports here, such as paddle boarding. That is on my list of things to do, when I have a bit more physical strength.

The nature reserve on the other side of the road is also well worth a visit. A great place to see some of the local birds. Although give the swans some space, even if they come sit on the pavement.

I first went to Maenporth Beach on a Saturday afternoon just on the spur of the moment. I saw an old lady in a swimsuit and it just struck me how healthy a lifestyle you could have living down here. And how it was something I really wanted.

This beach is 5 miles along the coastline from Falmouth. I know because I’ve run down there! You can walk along the coastal path from Swanpool to Maenporth and have some beautiful views.

It always seems to be a bit colder than Falmouth and the waves seem to be livelier. I love how dramatic it feels. The atmosphere just feels a bit different to Gylly or Swanpool Beaches. It just feels more closed in.

There is the obligatory cafe on the beach, with benches to sit on outside. The food is lovely, especially the ice cream.
